lululemon old tank, but popular style that is often rotated through. You can find a similar one here.
I have at least 3 of these tanks purchased over the years, so I know it's a lululemon staple. I think it is stylish, comfortable, and flattering for all. The material is great if you'll be sweating a lot as it gives you lots of room to breath. I wear these tops primarily for yoga, but I also like them for the gym (weightlifting, cardio, etc.) and kickboxing. I also have these in a couple different sizes - the top runs true to size, but I generally like to go 1 size down to offer more support up top so that I don't have to wear a sports bra with it. If you're a little more well-endowed on top, though, it'd probably be a good idea for you to double up with sports bra either way.
Also want this and this (though I'm not sure I can rock this style...)
Glyder Appearal Mantra Crop Legging in Mint
These are SO soft! Like so soft that I thought there was no way they'd stay up throughout a yoga practice, but they do! And they've surprised numerous trips through the wash and haven't lost their stretch, support or softness. I also love the color. It's even better in person. My only issue is the color is just the tiniest bit see-through so I need to wear nude undies with them. I think this is only an issue with the lighter colors as it doesn't seem to be a problem with some of my other pairs of Glyder leggings in darker colors or prints.
Also love these and these (on sale!)

lululemon 105 F Singlet (old color pictured, but great new ones available!)
This tank is AH-MAZING. It is so soft and versatile - great for any style of yoga (including hot yoga), running, the gym...you name it! There are so many color options and each one is fantastic. The material is such that you can wear and sweat in it a bunch of times before having to wash it, but it also holds its own in the wash. I've washed this top way more times than I can remember and it hasn't faded or shrunk at all and the material is as good as new. Must-buy.
Also LOVE this (super sale and best.sweater.EVER.)
Athleta Revelation Tight in Dress Blue (on sale!!)
These leggings are the best. Seriously. They are "wear all day" comfortable, flattering, and not see-through. The extra seam in the sides gives them a "slimming" appearance while also adding more support. And an extra plus for shorter ladies: these aren't technically supposed to cover your heels, but I'm able to pull the legs over my heels for extra warmth/coziness without wearing through the heels. If your legs are on the longer side, though, these will likely come to your ankles like most other leggings. The blue color is gorgeous and a nice mix-up from your every day black and/or gray. Another must-buy.
Really want these, too!
But back to my point on how Lasater turns Sanskrit into words that make sense. In one chapter, she explains Yoga Sutra 2:5 which states, “anitya-ashuci-duhkha-anatmasu-nitya-shuci-sukha-atma-khyatir-avidya,” or in English, “Nescience is the seeing of that which is eternal, pure, joyful and the Self in that which is ephemeral, impure, sorrowful, and the non-self.” I mean....what? Like seriously, that could be from a William Shakespeare sonnet. Thankfully, Lasater translates this Sutra into understandable English: “when we…think [we] will remain the same, we do not understand impermanence” (Lasater page 95). She then goes on to discuss how the only thing certain in life is change. Ah ha! I get it now: the Sutra is really saying: "change = good."
There are so many tidbits of wisdom in this book, but they're all presented in such a humble and "take what you will" fashion that really resonated with me. The book was also a pretty quick read. I read it cover-to-cover (or start to end on my Kindle) over about a week's worth of 30 minute metro commutes. Side note on the Kindle app: a nice feature is that it lets you highlight passages and take notes that you can then easily search for after the fact.
Anywho, if you haven't done so already, I HIGHLY encourage you get a copy of this book and read your heart out. It's sure to leave a lasting impression.
Happy reading, loves!
You're probably starting to realize by now how much I love colors. It's no secret that I've always been a huge fan of any and all shades of pink (I can do a whole load of just pink laundry and I wouldn't exactly be disappointed if I accidentally slipped some pink in with the whites and all my whites turned pink, too). But I'm also loving the fun shades of greens and blue/greens that have started to pop up everywhere, especially this mint color (or "Toothpaste" as this shirt is called). So for today's Favorite Finds, I'm celebrating these two vibrant colors. Don't worry, if pink and/or mint aren't your thing, there are plenty of other choices!
lululemon Power Y Tank in Toothpaste
Obsessed. I don't think I need to go on any more about how spectacular this color is, so I'll go on about the tank itself. I have 2 more of these "Power Y" tanks in other colors because they are my favorite. The production is solid: the material is soft but sturdy and the top is comfortable enough to wear all day. The straps are also really comfortable and they don't pull on my neck like some of the other yoga tops I have. I find the cut very flattering on the upper arms/torso, too! The only potential issue is the level of support; it's listed under the "light support" for good reason. I've never had an issue with the top, but I do find myself glancing down after a few rounds of jump backs and jump ups to ensure that, um, the ladies are not popping out. So if you've got a little more going on up top, you may want to add a sports bra underneath. Either way, I think you'll love it.
Also want this and this (on sale-woohoo!).
Glyder Mantra Crop Legging in Mojave Dusk Space Dye
These crops are SO soft. They also stay put without cutting off circulation or creating a muffin top look. The yoga studio I practice and teach at (Tranquil Space) recently just got a new shipment of these Mantra Crop leggings, and I seriously had to stop myself from buying up every pair. I've washed them a bunch, too, and they still look just as new as when I got them last summer. No see-through issues, either, which is a necessity in my opinion, though I bet you'd agree.
Also crushing on these and these (on sale!)
lululemon Bang Buster Headband
I am normally not a fan of headbands. Well, I take that back. I LOVE headbands and how they look on others, but I HATE wearing them because I almost always get a headache. Whether it's a fashion headband or an athletic one, I can almost always guarantee that my head will be throbbing within an hour of putting it on. But I found this one on sale one day and it was so stinking cute that I just had to try it out. And let me tell you what: I am so happy with this purchase. It doesn't have those little grip things, but it still somehow doesn't slide off during practice, no matter how many times I look up or down or circle my neck. Must buy.
Also love this and this.
Target Yoga Direct Yoga Mat in pink (comparable)
The mat pictured above is my very first yoga mat, ever. I bought it in 2007 in Williamsburg at the local Target, I think for $12.99 at the time. I don't think the company that made it even exists anymore, but the one I've included in the link is the most comparable mat I can find (aside for the price increase - thanks for that, Inflation!). If you're just starting to explore yoga, no need to spend heaps of cash on a mat because this one will do just fine. It'll give you the cushion you need and it's not too heavy or slippery. I still use this mat during my home practice at times and it still works just fine! Yet another Target win.
Tuesdays are the worst day of the week (IMHO): there's no excitement over the start of the week like on Mondays, no Hump Day hype like on Wednesdays, Thursday is the day before Friday which is fun in itself, Friday & Saturday = enough said, and who doesn't love Sunday Funday or Lazy Sunday?? So, I've decided to spice up the tiresome Tuesday with my Favorite Finds since I love, love, LOVE all things yoga SO much.
Athleta Chi Top in Wasabi Green
Let me just start by saying that I'm obsessed with this family of greens right now. This top caught my eye immediately and the color is so much better in person. The material is even better - it really is a "lightweight, soft, stretchy fabric [that] wicks and breathes," as the tag says. I even accidentally splashed water all over myself when doing the dishes in this shirt (since naturally, I just wanted to wear it all weekend!) and I was able to shake each and every drop of water right off. To make matters even better, it has thumb holes (love) which don't pull on or annoy my hands during practice (love even more!). I was tempted to get the Extra Long version of the top since I find longer tops extra cozy, but I'm really glad I went with the normal one here. It's a great length (I'm 5'3" with what I think is a normal torso length (??)) and it doesn't get in the way of anything. I have no qualms here!
Also scoping out this (40% off sale/clearance and 15% off when you sign up for email!) and this (on sale!!).
Athleta Heartbeat Chaturanga Tight
I had been eyeing these for awhile and finally broke down and got them this weekend. I was choosing between these Heartbeat Chaturanga tights and these (tough choice, I tell you...first world problems), but the hubs' pick was for the Heartbeat so that won. The material on these is a little different than what I'm used to with yoga leggings - they're not as soft as some other pairs, but they are warm. No see-through issues here, either, so major plus, and the length is great. They run true to Athleta sizes. Overall, a great purchase, though I won't choose these for hot yoga or any summer time sessions.
Contemplating this (they are on sale, too, woohoo!).
lululemon's The Mat
This was my main studio mat for about two years. I just replaced it last month to switch things up, but it still gets some use at home or when I practice over at CrossFit. Unlike some of the Jade mats, this one has not ripped or torn at all. It's nice and thick, so lots of support, but it took a little breaking in. Also, I almost always practiced with a towel on top of it (maybe that's why it hasn't ripped?), since my hands would slip a little in Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana). I don't ever use a towel now, though, and it is not the least bit slippery. It's VERY heavy, so if you plan on toting your mat around the city, this is not the mat for you.
Happy snow day everyone! I took advantage of the snow today and got in a nice practice, using some of my favorite gear. Details on the goods below and more on Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II) later this week!
Lululemon tank in Black
I purchased this tank last summer (2014) for a couple yoga photo shoots and it was such a great buy. Though it's not currently sold in stores, I've seen it come and go throughout the seasons at Lululemon in a variety of colors. I'm just waiting for it to come back so I can get it in more colors! It is so comfortable and offers great support for the girls so I sometimes even sneak it under a cardigan when I'm going out to run errands or hangout with friends for the day..don't judge :) My only complaint is that the straps can get a little tight around my neck during practice so I'm frequently adjusting the neckline, but that could just be due to my abnormally large traps (seriously, I was once asked by a masseuse if I was a professional swimmer because of them, but I've never swam more than a lap at a time so I have no idea how they got to be that way!).
Also got my eye on: this and this.
GapFit gFast heathered leggings in New Vineyard
These leggings are simply amazing. They are so comfortable and great for lounging around, yet somehow they also stay put during a heated yoga practice. I've gotten numerous compliments on them - the color is a really subtle eggplant purple, but pretty.
I was a little hesitant to buy leggings from GapFit instead of the tried and true Athleta (Gap Inc. Brand's line specifically designed for yoga & athletic wear), mainly because I have the perpetual fear that my leggings will be see-through. But I found them online during a Black Friday sale (I promise, I was shopping for Christmas gifts for others!), and it was such a great deal that I thought I'd give them a shot. Gap also offers free shipping on orders over $50 so it was a great deal and I was pleasantly surprised. The website doesn't provide information on how long they are, but I'm 5'3" and they bunch up on me around the ankles (I like it that way). The extra length also allows me to slip the ends over my heels for some extra warmth when it's super cold out.
The pants are currently $10-15 off and Gap is offering 30% off regular-priced items so you can stock up!
Also craving these, these, and these.
eKO SuperLite® Travel Mat 68" in Majesty
This was another Black Friday purchase/Birthday/Christmas present to myself. I stumbled upon it while searching for a yoga mat for my brother to gently nudge him into doing more yoga *wink wink*. This mat is GREAT for travel. It's so light and can be folded up or rolled any which way you want to store in your purse, backpack or suitcase. I took it with me to the Bahamas in December and have been using it since in my carpeted (bleh) yoga room at home to break it in a little bit. But really, I just don't want to wait until my next trip to use it again. Since it is so light and thin, though, I recommend only using it on level surfaces (i.e., it's not the best for outdoor yoga). I foolishly tried to use this on the gorgeous Bahamian beaches and while it wasn't the worst thing ever, it didn't do anything to level out the sand. The sand also clung to the mat (think Stage 5 Clinger) and I ended up bringing a whole lot of the Bahamas back to VA with me.
